"EmpowerHER: Supporting the Future, One Girl at a Time"
“EmpowerHER: Supporting the Future, One Girl at a Time” is a transformative project by GEAM AFRIKA that focuses on supporting and promoting girl child education across Africa. The project aims to break down barriers that hinder girls’ access to quality education and create a supportive environment that empowers them to thrive academically and personally.
Statistics: According to UNESCO, approximately 130 million girls globally were out of school before the COVID-19 pandemic. In sub-Saharan Africa, over 31 million primary-school-aged girls are out of school, and gender disparities in education remain prevalent. Lack of access to education often leads to limited opportunities, early marriage, and perpetuates cycles of poverty.
Project Objectives:
- Increase access to quality education for girls in underserved communities.
- Improve retention rates and reduce dropouts among girls in primary and secondary schools.
- Promote gender-responsive and inclusive education policies in target regions.
- Empower girls with essential life skills and leadership training to become change-makers in their communities.
